We stayed in New Canaan last night & took advantage of perfect (brr!) autumn weather to do some exploring with Steve & Jeanne today. The colors were spectacular. Breathtaking, really. I grew up in the Northwest & we had nice colors there, but New England is just really in a league of its own. Every time I see the rolling hills of colors this time of year I think about the quilt that my mom made me for my high school graduation. It's one of my favorite possessions & the colors... they're all autumn.

We drove for miles, found a great farmer's market where we got some pie & apple cider (+ cider doughnuts to go), got impossibly lost in a corn maze (& subsequently escaped), found an apple orchard (I love apple orchards, but don't love apples) & then finished off the night with yummy Mexican food in New Canaan before we hopped on a train back into the city. It was a good day.

I'm sort of frustrated with my pictures. Can someone please tell me why my white balance is so messed up & all of my bright blue skies look white & why the colors (which are supposed to be really bright & sharp) are so muted &/or warm? I couldn't seem to fix it. I tried, & then failed. It looks like it's back to the books for me...

And yes- I wore the same sweater/jacket (I don't know what it is) today that I wore in London on Tuesday. And yes- I wear a lot of black. Obviously.

This is one of many reasons I really am hoping Ben and I can move back easy for his residency... Gorgeous!
was it a cloudy day? If so, try moving the white balance to the cloud
btw, I love you photos, especially the apple bag.
pretty. man, we leave for 3 days and miss hundreds of blogs. looks like your having a blast.
So pretty. I like your pictures! Fall in New England is quite nice.
You are joking right? By saying that your photos are whited out and mute. They are incredible - something that I don't even believe (leaves can really have THAT much color??)
Really, beautiful and sounds like a great weekend Kathryn.
obsessed with the heart shapes in the field. so fun. also - that wheat picture? amazing. can i buy it from you and frame it large for my kitchen? maybe the lettuce and apple bags too.
Jill, Mike took the wheat picture. So good, right? I'm sure he'd let you "have" it (sheesh). :)
