From St. Thomas.

Quinn hated the water on the first day. Hated the sand. Probably hated all of the noise, too because he was a little bit of a sad beach baby on day number one. But the next day was different, & once Grandma got a hold of him for a few minutes & spent some serious time acclimating him, he was the happiest of beach babies - albeit with sand in all sorts of uncomfortable places. But really, I think that St. Thomas soothed him. He was a mostly-perfect baby all week long, loved playing in the water, perfected his sitting up skills on the sand, took record-breaking naps every day & never got sunburned. Victory.

A few Instax photos from our trip. I solemnly swear to post my digital photos... before the end of summer. I'm only half kidding.

(And yes - Q wore the same hat every single day, thanks to Mike informing me that his 2nd option looked like a girl's hat. Sigh.)

Coney Island.

We went with the Eli, Tim & Amy on Saturday & had a really fun time. Coney Island isn't the classiest of establishments, but for some reason it's just a happy + fun place for me (maybe all of the color? the ocean + the breeze?). We ate hot dogs at Nathan's, wandered around the boardwalk, fed our babies & watched Mike & Tim get sling-shotted (word?) into the sky. It was a good day. I have a zillion photos & about zero motivation to go through them right now. But these Instax photos? They're fun. Little snapshots from our day.

(Photos from when we went two years ago. Simpler times without diaper bags + strollers or trying to breastfeed [with a cover] on a very windy beach. Happy memories!)

PL '10: Fuji Instax.

The photos that come from this camera end up feeling like little keepsakes & souvenirs from travels & favorite days. I'm a fan.

Snapshots.

I love my DSLR. I do. But sometimes, it's fun to take less precise photos, snapshots. And despite the fact that I still have my Polaroid - & a few shots left in my last pack of film! - I'm happy about not paying over $2 per photo for a while until the Impossible Project drops their prices a bit, anyway (although I'm dying to order some of this film - the color is beautiful, I think).

Goodbye St. Martin, Hello New York.

We're back.

Landed just before midnight last night, in a cab by 12:15 & home by 12:30am. Amazing.

Curtains that wouldn't fit our new windows (sniff) sold & picked up by a nice Craigs List shopper by 7am, unpacked by 8am, breakfast by 8:30am, laundry in by 10:30am & Fuji Instax photos scanned in by 11:15am (so, so glad I brought that camera). Mail is sorted, suitcases are put away & my to do list is organized. The rest of the day - I'm off to a doctors appointment, some various errands & then Trader Joe's to fill our totally empty fridge. Then I will see friends that I've missed, relax on my couch & keep thinking about how nice it was sitting on the beach yesterday drinking my (virgin) strawberry colada with lime.
