Let's recap.

Because my days are mostly interesting, happy & good because of the little things, & not necessarily massive events.

* Frozen hot chocolates with friend Amy @ Serendipity last week * Stairs like these are becoming a bit daunting, but I credit them in part for having a healthy pregnancy * Mike & I had lunch in Tribeca in the middle of his work day * Will & I got to hang out for a few hours Friday morning (he's a whiz on the iPhone & likes to have dance parties with me) *

* One of Baby Boy's lovely gifts from my shower on Saturday (thanks, Kelsey - he's perfect), sitting with a few of his other new friends in the nursery * Subway-riding with my buddy Wyatt on the way home from our adventure to Red Hook (Brooklyn) yesterday where we ate Banana Cream Pie & Caramel Salted Brownies from Baked * Baby Boy's sharp new tie that he'll wear for his blessing * The view from our roof on 9 / 11 *

* PB&J cupcake from Tribeca Treats * The lovely little owl rattle that friend Corinne made (!) for Baby Boy - I'm obsessed * Our hospital date on Saturday night (all is well) + my contractions & BB's perfect heartbeat * Virtual shopping with friend Erin (I miss her) *

There's this funny tight feeling starting to grow in my chest.

(On a more care free day)

I think they call it panic.

Should we place bets on when this boy is showing up? My guess: September 17th (if not sooner), which saddens me because we have reservations for Norma's on the 18th. Then again, watch me just eat my words & finally get induced at 42 weeks. How come you can't schedule babies? I'll send him a meeting request! I love having an organized calendar.

(I'm officially due September 26th)

Your guesses? Date + weight? The winner gets something really great! Like good karma. Or the personal satisfaction of being a fortune teller.

NYC lovebirds having a baby.

We've been married 5 1/2 years & have lived in New York City for just as long. We're anticipating the arrival of Baby Boy in what is now officially 17 days (sooner?!). We are still lovebirds.

Friend Jen snapped some photos of us in Tribeca to document our last days of two before we move on to three. She did a lovely job & I can't wait to post some of my other favorites.

Mike gets credit for location-finding. We wanted something besides Central Park, but still representative of our city. He pointed me in the direction of a few streets down by his office & I wandered for a bit after we had lunch one day. Love this neighborhood (unless you want to catch a subway back to the Upper East Side - I'm really sorry about your terrible commute, Mike) & all of the colors, texture & character. I went back to the same streets for the family photos I did on Monday. Love!

And my belly! I swear, some days it's massive, some days it feels small (the nice lady at the post office yesterday told me I looked 5 months pregnant - I told her that I missed my 5-month belly, & that I was going to visit her every day until this baby comes so that she could repeat all the nice things she said to me).

Apparently this day was a massive day. I'll take it though, because when I look through these photos I'll think of very little except that I felt happy with my love, & excited about our future (& that the shirt was maybe, just maybe a bad decision)

Today, a Tuesday.

Had our last family-of-two photos taken in Tribeca in the very early morning hours

Ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast at 'wichcraft before Mike went into work

Struggled in 96° heat & felt very pregnant

Was very sleepy & took an accidental 3 hour nap

Ate a rice crispy treat with friend Heidi (I've never actually made them myself)

Had dinner at Alice's Tea Cup with friend Whitney while Mike worked late

Received Baby Boy's Halloween costume in the mail & then decided to likely return it as it's maybe quite silly to dress up a newborn (we'll be observant next year when he's over 4 weeks old)

Snow globe hunting, Tribeca eating, skinny jean wearing & other various topics.

I spent about 2 hours the other day trying to find this blasted snow globe. How is that even possible in 600 square feet?  We just really don't have a lot of stuff. I finally found it. It's pretty. Thanks again, Mom.  It's one of my very favorite Christmas things.

We had dinner with a new couple in our ward last night, down in Tribeca. We haven't been to Upstairs in a few years, but we remember now why we used to love it so much. I had a butternut squash ravioli that was amazing. We're going back there again soon. Maybe for brunch, because they have brunch now. And lunch (!!).

It's cold today. And windy. I'm finally remembering how long New York City winters are. I think we need to plan a warm weather weekend very soon.

I'm wearing my legging jeans just about every single day. They're my winter uniform, I think. Love them so much that I bought two pairs. J Brand. Black & dark blue (jean-colored?). I tried on a pair of regular jeans the other day, my first pair of fancy schmancy designer jeans that I bought while going to BYU. I walked into our living room & Mike told me that I looked ridiculous. Bell bottoms (i.e. slightly flared)! 80's (faded)! Can I wear non-skinny jeans any more? I'm not quite sure. I feel sort of silly in them.

I was sad today. And yesterday. I couldn't shake it. I taught seminary this morning, came home & climbed back into bed. For 3 hours. I was grateful for the chirping of my BlackBerry, for friends that got me into a bra & out of my apartment, fed me, & made me craft something pretty for the top of my tree.

I went shopping for the next 3+ hours by myself (which is sometimes very nice), got home, & realized that I felt just about all-the-way better. Plus, my Christmas shopping is almost done.

I wholly subscribe to both friend & retail therapy.

Today:

  • I got good news from a friend, & good news always makes for a happier day.
  • Marks 6 months + 5 days since I have partaken of any caffeine. Sometimes I really miss Diet Cherry Coke, but I don't ever miss the taste of aspartame. I think I'm maybe done forever. Maybe.
  • I met Mike for lunch at Peace & Love in Tribeca. It's fun to meet my (very handsome) husband for lunch in the middle of the day, & as a plus - my sandwich was especially delicious. Definitely beats the frozen burrito I had yesterday.
  • I followed up lunch by a trip to the Brooklyn Diner for a black & white shake, since my calorie consumption post-lunch was clearly not enough. Hooray for yummy treats & good friends.
  • Jill's lovely design blog & brother's engagement story was featured on Smitten, along with my Brooklyn Bridge photos. Fun.
  • It's rainy/snowy & grey. After a few hours out today, I came home, turned on the heater & put on my slippers, sweatshirt & leggings, even though I don't believe that leggings really qualify as real pants.

Bubby's

Today was a busy Saturday. We woke up early (ridiculous for a Saturday morning- Mike was up at 6:00) and walked up to Tribeca to have breakfast at Bubby's, a place we've wanted to try for a while. Yum! It was a fun spot. We must have been feeling extremely energized after our big breakfast, because we decided to walk up to Soho where we walked around and shopped for a few hours. I was ecstatic to find my dream couch at Crate & Barrel, only to realize that it would cost us about $6K. So much for a nice leather sectional in our living room... Anyway, we did a lot of walking today, but it's always fun to get around the city via foot instead of subway. The view is a little bit better of course, and it was nice to get some fresh air after a week spent in a cubicle. We went grocery shopping, walked down to South Street Seaport just for fun, browsed Borders for an hour or so and cleaned out our closets. All in all it has been a productive day. Now I am exhausted with sore feet, so I'm going to make Mike rub them and then go to sleep!
