Hello.

Hi, blog.

First - at one point does a mother no longer feel tired? I still feel tired, mostly. I mean, not always, but generally speaking, I don't think I've felt thoroughly well-rested since the fall of 2009. Sleep when the baby sleeps! Blah blah blah blah... I know.

(I say this as some sort of caveat I suppose, because anytime I try to write anything these days, everything comes out mushy & in the wrong order, & I can't say things the way that I want to, so then I don't say anything at all, or I say something & it ends up just being kind of silly-slash-stupid. Did I ever tell about the time a few months ago when I had Mike proof a post that I thought was particularly profound, but maybe a bit complex? Yeah, he finished it, looked it me, & said It needs a little bit of work. It doesn't really make any sense. So. Just so we're clear, I blame fatigue!)

Mike & I went out to dinner Friday night. Date nights have been more frequent the past few weeks & that's a happy thing. We went to the West Village & ate at a yummy little Peruvian + Ceviche bar. We loved the lomo saltado, & the ceviche was really great. Afterwards, we stopped into a fun little Swedish candy shop & picked up a pound or so of treats, & then ran into The Wafel Truck that just happened to be a block away. We had to get some. You know, for good measure. It was a really great New York City food night. Peruvian for dinner, Swedish for dessert, & Belgian waffles (wafels? depends on where you are, I suppose) for a post-dessert treat. Oh! And THEN! When we got home, I polished off the remaining piece of one of the cupcakes that I had picked up earlier in the day (story: I was out walking with Q & needed a water, desperately. I went into Purple Elephant Cake Boutique [really love this place, by the way] to buy one, & was forced to purchase three cupcakes + my water to meet their $10 credit card minimum. Sigh - I can't keep cash in my wallet to save my life, but was pleased with the excuse to buy some treats, even if cupcakes are totally 2008). The next morning, for breakfast -  I had a cupcake. And then! The scale this morning told me that I lost four pounds. Go figure.

What else. Oh! We went out again last night, to Blue Smoke. Two nights in a row, out past 10! Look at us! (And now we're thoroughly exhausted, of course.) The Lloyds are in town & seeing Jill makes me happy, happy, happy! Love that girl THISMUCH & love having her in the city with us for a few days. She played peek-a-boo with a somewhat sad Q yesterday afternoon for a half-dozen blocks (after we'd gone to Shake Shack and The Wafel Truck) & she didn't even flinch when he puked everywhere. True friend.

I went to the spa yesterday morning! A full (& I mean full) body scrub, massage + a facial. It was maybe one of the best mornings of my life. Thank you, sweet husband. It was a lovely Mother's Day gift & I'm feeling like a new mama (in a good way, & not in the shell shocked & on the verge of a total breakdown kind of way).

What else. Quinn! He's basically a genius, is already doing tons of algebra, is almost fluent in Spanish & just finished his first sprint triathlon. He sleeps 16 hours straight at night & then wakes up & makes his own breakfast, never, ever cries & has decided to become a vegetarian because he loves animals too much. I kid! Clearly. But seriously, I'm doing my best to not fall into the but their kid is doing THAT already!! trap, & in the meantime, feeling happy because he's super cute! And is a (mostly) good sleeper, a good eater, generally well-adjusted & most importantly is a very loved baby. And really, he's doing lots of great tricks, & it's really fun for us to watch him evolve into this little miniature person.

Thoroughly unrelated photos from the other morning. It takes a while to get him dressed when I refuse to put my camera away. Sorry, Q.

Online shopping fail + a few random things.

Hi.

So. We do a lot of online shopping around these parts. It's easy! Amazon Prime will show up in 48 hours, & Diapers.com orders oftentimes show up the same day. It's amazing (especially with a baby), & if I wanted to, I bet I could stay inside my apartment forever & ever. But! It's not foolproof, & my massive shopping fail last week was evident of this. Q's original Mr. Whoozit friend was thoroughly saturated in 8 months of saliva & in immediate need of a replacement, so instead of walking up to 86th Street & buying a new one, I ordered one! Who knew that Mr. Whoozit came in two sizes?! Oops.

(A smaller & more appropriately sized Mr. Whoozit has since been purchased. But the massive one? It's hilarious, & we're keeping it.)

My mom has been here since last Wednesday. We've had a thoroughly fabulous time, with lots of walking, shopping, playing & eating. She came with me to a haircut Thursday night (welcome back, bangs) & we ate a giant plate of vegetables at Westville afterwards (while sharing a nice bowl of macaroni & cheese, too). It was not only fun to be out past dark, but also to be in a place that was thoroughly not baby friendly, & with my mother! Friday night marked a momentous occasion - our first night away from Quinn. We celebrated our 6 year anniversary with dinner at Perilla in the West Village & a night at Le Parker Meridian (+ an early breakfast at Norma's). It was lovely! And terrifying. I have an extremely capable mother who successfully raised seven children, but leaving my son overnight for the veryveryfirsttime was scary & gave me a really funny feeling in my tummy. I cried when we went down the elevator, I cried when we got in the cab, & then I almost cried during dinner but managed to keep it together. Who knew it would be so hard?! It was really lovely to spend the time with just the two of us (+ my trusty breast pump), but we were so excited to see him again in the morning - back at our apartment where he was of course well fed + happy with Grandma.

We've cooked, we've ordered in & we've eaten a ridiculous amount of Dave's Killer Bread (the best bread I've ever had in my entire life - & not available in New York!!). I took her to see Billy Elliot Saturday night (Happy Mother's Day!) & we really loved it. LOVED it. The songs are still in my head & the dancing was really just so fun. She's helped me clean & organize, filled our fridge with fruits & vegetables & has spent lots of time with Q while I've done very important things (like nap!). She helped me do a zillion loads of laundry yesterday morning before her flight was supposed to take off, only to get to the airport to find that her flight was cancelled. New York City is currently completely shrouded in fog, so we got her for at least one more day. Hooray! She lives too far away, so an extra day isn't ever a bad thing. Still, the walls in our tiny apartment were likely closing in on her a bit, so I promised her a delicious dinner & something fun.

The something fun translated into the 4 of us hopping into a rental car with Mike & heading to Sprinkles for some cupcake therapy, & then making an epic trip to Costco & Target where we purchased everything from shoes to baby gifts (Patrick & Kera are having a girl!) to goat cheese. It was an effort that required all three adults, but I'm so happy we did it. Costco & Target have revolutionized life in Manhattan, & knowing that I have enough paper towels to last me through the summer makes me feel good about life. We came home & made the very best dinner - probably the best I've made all year. Bless you, Jill Lloyd (this friend of mine passes along the very best recipes). See, Mom! It's not so bad being stuck (although the thunder + lightning this morning is making her have a very funny & slightly worried expression on her face).

Also! I just put Quinn down for a nap & made it all the way through his song without coughing! I've been sick for a month now (a month!) & am finally thinking that maybe I shouldn't just be euthanized after all.

It's going to rain EVERY SINGLE DAY for like the next year, seriously. The forecast is so depressing. See above paragraph on online shopping. Sigh.

*Post edit: Whoa. Am I on drugs? I just re-read this post & realized that I used like 17 different tenses in one paragraph. Judge away. I've never been an amazing writer.

Snippets (+ sleep makes me sparkle!).

No time for real writing these days. But snippets. I can do snippets, albeit disjointed ones.

(I kind of don't feel like doing real writing on the blog these days, anyway. I don't know. I kind of feel like if people really want to know how we're doing, they should call me! Or talk to me in person! And it's irritating when people don't, because reading a blog / social networking does not equal relationship maintenance nor is it a substitute for actual communication, right? It's filtered, as genuine as I try do be. It's kind of like when people wish you happy birthday on Facebook only because Facebook told them it was your birthday, but they'd never know otherwise. Anyway. A random subject I've been thinking about as I try to maintain this little space for our own personal documentation.)

Anyway. To document, without any profound or even organized prose:

We've discovered that Q likes to have quiet time in his crib. We like this too, especially when he is eschewing the idea of naps. Music + his mobile will keep him content long enough that I'm able to unload the dishwasher & get a few quick things done. And he's so happy & content doing it, just staring & cooing at the bright birds.

Mike has come home the past few nights & said that he's looking like such a boy. He is, & the speed with which this has happened is kind of unbelievable. Sometimes, when I'm putting him back down to sleep at night after I've fed him, I hold him just a few minutes longer. Because of this so big, so fast phenomenon that is taking place.

But the last two nights - I've only had to put him back down once. This makes me happy, because it means that I've had 6+ hour stretches of straight sleep each night. Amazing. Fingers crossed that it continues, although documenting it likely means jinxing it, right?

(Never mind. I said nothing.)

Today - I ran into the broker that we signed our apartment through. Have I mentioned her before? She's great, & she happens to look like the prettier version of Heidi Klum. She's the tallest, most thin, nicest woman you'll ever meet. I love her, except that I sort of hate myself when she's around because I look like a plump midget in comparison. But anyway. She loves Quinn & always wants to stare at him for 20 minutes every time I run into her in our lobby (& I'm always running somewhere). Today - she said, Your eyes are sparkling! What happened?! I said maybe it was the eyeliner that I managed to smear on that morning, but she said no. Sleep! That's it, & I told her so. It makes me sparkle! 6 hours! Amazing.

We discovered a new place for pizza on the Upper East Side, run by real fresh off the boat Italians. Farinella Italian Bakery. My favorite was topped with artichoke hearts & green olives, but the options are endless, & fresh, & delicious. We snagged a menu & it will be our new go-to for delivery, I think. Fresh pizza, breads, pastas. Yum.

And cupcakes! Purple Elephant Cake Boutique was an accidental find yesterday as Q & I were walking home from the pediatrician. I bought the sweet & salty + the red velvet on a whim & was converted right then & there. Another spot for Mormon girl dates always makes me happy, especially without having to trek to the East Village

My sister Tara sent along this beautiful copy of Peter Pan for Quinn. The most thoughtful gift & so pretty (like the Clothbound Penguin Classics friend Lindsey brought over for me from London a few years ago). It's on his shelf with the copy of The Secret Garden that I picked up shortly after. My dad read that to us when we were little, & I remember our copy being so beautiful, too.

Sur la Table opened up a new location just a few blocks away. This is more dangerous than I could have ever imagined. It's like Anthropologie for my kitchen. Love. Yesterday - Le Creuset on sale! A lovely find, but carrying my 11+ pound child and Le Creuset home proved to be a very bad decision. And really, I think this coupled with the amount of rocking + bouncing I've been doing lately... we need to have an arm wrestling competition & see who wins (me).

Quinn has kind of forgotten how nice it is to have closed eyelids during the day. We were doing so well for a stretch, & now - we've regressed a bit in the napping department. It's the saddest thing to watch because he's so tired & his eyes are half open & he gets so sleepy & sad. He needs to sleep. I'm sure he wants to sleep, kind of. But more than that, I think he just wants to hang out with his mama. This makes me feel warm & fuzzy because I know that he loves me, but sleeping makes me sparkle, so I'll resort to the Bjorn & really long walks (think several hours), or like today - letting him just sleep on my chest for an hour & a half leaving me unable to accomplish anything except using my thumb on my iPhone (which I had to grab from the ottoman using my toes - talent!). Sometimes, when I'm trying to help him go to sleep in his crib, I stroke his forehead in a downward motion which helps his eyes to clothes a little bit, & then it's like he remembers how nice it is to not have his eyes open ALL. THE. TIME. But really, I think he just forgets sometimes that they can actually close. Anyway. I suppose I'll take night sleeping over day sleeping, but still. I'm anxious for the day when these naps sort themselves out a bit.

We bought tickets for Christmas! We'll be in Portland this year, at Tara's house. It's not the cabin, but Tara's house is beautiful during the holidays & it will be so fun to be with her family + my parents. I haven't spent a real holiday with my family in several years (I'm discounting last Thanksgiving in Mexico since it was a total not for the www bust), so that will just be nice. Tara + my mom are both fabulous cooks. The food alone will be worth the trip, although the flight is already giving me anxiety.

Speaking of tickets - Letterman! We finally got tickets! For January. Although we were talking & decided that we're excited, but slightly under-whelemed. Because we've seen SNL, & Jimmy Falon, & Stephen Colbert, & The Daily Show, & Martha... & they're all kind of the same. But still. It will be fun. Now I just have to find a babysitter.

Quinn is smiling all the time. He has dimples, like me. And sure enough - it validates me as his mother. I love it. Totally makes my day. And - he's looking more & more like a Hudson. As Kera said, we have dominant genes (go figure).

Baby is sleeping so I must sleep.

Wafels & Dinges.

(First of all, don't judge my spelling. It's Wafels. Not waffles, which kind of drives me nuts, but that's how they spell it.)

Wafels & Dinges is one of my favorite NYC treat spots. Hot Belgian waffles + sweet toppings.  Delicious. The truck travels, & sadly, it's always on 86th Street on Sundays. Cruel, yes. Attempting to be Sabbath-Day-Keepers, we have to walk by it on our way home from church week after week. Kind of like during the summer when there is apparently a street fair on 3rd Avenue EVERY. SINGLE. SUNDAY. & the smell of elephant ears taunts me all the way home.

Anyway.

They have mini-trucks now! Multiple! Well, they aren't actually trucks. They're carts, I suppose. But they still have the same wafels with the same toppings. Mike had never had it before, & when Facebook told me that their cart was at the Guggenheim on Saturday (& every Saturday!), I jumped at the chance. A perfect excuse for a walk.

After some shopping (I went to Yummy Mummy - nursing bras are so fun - & Mike went to the JCrew men's shop), we walked up to 88th & 5th Avenue. Perfect fall weather, two perfect wafels & some hot chocolate with my little family. It was nice.

Oh - & Zagat recently rated Wafles & Dinges #1 in the sweet category for food trucks. Hooray for them (& for Zagat for finally rating food trucks in the city!).

(PS - it turns out that they have a permanent mini truck now at 60th & 5th. I'm thinking that this needs to be a weekly outing, at least. Friends? The schedule is here.)

Before the sleeping giant awoke.

Let's recap.

Because my days are mostly interesting, happy & good because of the little things, & not necessarily massive events.

* Frozen hot chocolates with friend Amy @ Serendipity last week * Stairs like these are becoming a bit daunting, but I credit them in part for having a healthy pregnancy * Mike & I had lunch in Tribeca in the middle of his work day * Will & I got to hang out for a few hours Friday morning (he's a whiz on the iPhone & likes to have dance parties with me) *

* One of Baby Boy's lovely gifts from my shower on Saturday (thanks, Kelsey - he's perfect), sitting with a few of his other new friends in the nursery * Subway-riding with my buddy Wyatt on the way home from our adventure to Red Hook (Brooklyn) yesterday where we ate Banana Cream Pie & Caramel Salted Brownies from Baked * Baby Boy's sharp new tie that he'll wear for his blessing * The view from our roof on 9 / 11 *

* PB&J cupcake from Tribeca Treats * The lovely little owl rattle that friend Corinne made (!) for Baby Boy - I'm obsessed * Our hospital date on Saturday night (all is well) + my contractions & BB's perfect heartbeat * Virtual shopping with friend Erin (I miss her) *

The Row Boats & some various other things.

We went on an outing to the row boats at Central Park on Labor Day with the Lloyds. I took a slew of what I had hoped were beautiful photos on my camera, & then proceeded to format my memory later in the day so that I could take RAW images during the family photo session I was doing - forgetting of course about all of the personal photos that I had on the card. Not happy about that move of utter stupidity on my part, but there was nothing to be done. So, here's the back ups from the iPhone. Sorry again, Jill. I captured some great memories of her little family, & she's been cursing my name ever since I sent her the Oops, guess what I did? email. I told her it was almost as if the day never happened because we don't have proper photo documentation.

Sigh.

But - photos or not, the row boats were in fact quite fun. I can't believe we'd never done it before during all of our time in the city. We saw a lot of turtles, got some sun, & enjoyed the hour-long paddle (for only $12!). Afterwards - lunch at Shake Shack, where we were able to grab their Labor-Day-Weekend-only corn dogs, which I have to say were far superior to any corn dog I've ever had. And Levain Bakery for a little snack afterwards, of course. Levain was Mike's idea. I blame him.

This week has been busy. Seriously really, really busy. It's Wednesday already? I've been running (not literally) all week long, checking things off my list. But I have energy! And walking feels good! So why not?! This running (& my amount of walking in general, I think) was perhaps the reason for my doctor's reaction during my exam yesterday when she said, Oh!!! Have you been really uncomfortable?? (no, not really.) & then praised my well-behaving cervix that's apparently doing a surprisingly early + great job getting ready for labor. Looks like Baby Boy might be making an early debut (but then again, you never, ever really know). Just in case, we're finishing up all of the final preparations, but crossing our fingers that we at least get through the weekend + most of next week. I have plans! Lots of fun plans! I just need a few more days. A Broadway show. A baby shower! Dinner plans. The Met! Martha Stewart + JCrew. Just a few days!! That's all I'm asking, then I'll take whatever I can get. Early, late, on time, whatever. I just want a happy baby & a fresh pedicure, & in the meantime am grateful for a bit more space in my lungs, even if it means I pee 1/4th of a teaspoon approximately every 17 minutes.

What else...

Glenn Beck is crazy. Seriously, really crazy. And I love Stephen Colbert. The end.

I finally found the last pillow for our living room - the final touch on a little eclectic mix I've put together one at a time. This makes me happy - as it's a completion of another nesting activity - even though pillow #4 (out of 4) still hasn't arrived thanks to it's backordered status.

Friend Amy & I went to Serendipity this afternoon & got the frozen hot chocolate. I haven't been there in five years & felt like a total tourist. But! It was empty mid-afternoon. And our drinks were actually far better than I remembered & a nice little celebration for our baby boy's to-be.

I went & met with my pediatrician today. I have a pediatrician?! I felt like I needed to call my mom & have her come with me as proper adult representation, as if I was playing make believe in the playhouse in my parent's backyard.

We went to dinner with Mike's parents tonight in the West Village. Cornelia Street Cafe was delicious, & our walk through Washington Square Park afterwards was really nice. Almost chilly, but not quite. Early fall nights in New York are perfect. I'm hoping our heat is o-v-e-r. The forecast says so. Thank goodness. I'm ready for fall, complete with a fresh pair of tall + fuzzy Uggs.

The body pillow has officially been kicked out of the bed. I've been sleeping that well this week (& my belly makes a nice little kick-stand). Phew.

I made steel cut oatmeal for breakfast again this morning. Mike said, I think that maybe food IS my love language! It was really good oatmeal.

Other things to post as soon as I come up for a tiny bit more air: My pretty friend Mindy & the photos I took of her last week. Maybe a peak into what Baby Boy's birth announcement will look like (the envelopes arrived today & I'm in love with the color!). A sampling from our maternity photos last week! Some of the sweet family photos I took on Monday. A snapshot of the pages & pages of notes that Mike took in our labor & delivery class the other weekend. I found them today, & loved Mike even more because of his copious note-taking. Some polaroids (of the Instax variety) from our Hamptons excursion.

So far this week.

I met a dog named Jake at Levain Bakery. He was pretty, & my cookie was delicious.

I was walking up lower 5th Avenue yesterday afternoon. Elvis was walking down in a full ensemble of white & rhinestone. As he was passing me, he decided to jump in front of me & scream in my face. And then keep walking as if nothing happened. What?!?! I screamed back, & then almost went into labor. New York City is so random sometimes.

I saw a subway car covered in Target advertisements. And then I went to Target (+ Costco) for the 3rd time in 7 days.

Speaking of Costco, our new pattern is to go through one package of blueberries, one package of sliced mango & one package of grapes per week. Fruit is nice.

Oh! And peaches. I made peach cobbler again last night for friends. Monday morning (after I'd made it Sunday night), we ate oatmeal made with the leftover fresh peach syrup instead of water. Yum.

I discovered the softest sweat pants ever.

Doesn't that Trader Joe's cookbook look amazing? From Urban Outfitters.

I love The Bistro Truck. Love.

Kelsey introduced me to L'Arte del Gelato at Chelsea Market. Amazing.

Donkey arrived in the mail. Love him!

It's humid.

Baby Boy kicked me so hard last night, just before we were falling asleep. I buried my head in my pillow to keep from saying bad words, & then I cried. That's a first.

Aug 2, 2010

The weekend.

It's Monday! I got 8 hours of almost-uninterrupted sleep last night, it's 8:30am, my laundry is in the dryer & I have leftover peach cobbler in my belly (i.e. breakfast). A happy start to the day, I think.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday were all happy days, too. They involved a play date with one of my very favorite 2 year olds, breakfast-for-lunch with Suzi, a (2nd!) trip to Target, milkshakes with friend Kelsey (finally back in town!) at Joy Burger Bar, brunch & dinner dates (!!) with Mike on Saturday with Highline Park + Chelsea Market wanderings in between (where we sampled + shared desserts from Butterlane Bakery, People's Pops & Van Leeuwen Ice Cream - so technically, that's only 1 1/2 small desserts a piece!), wearing heels (wedges, actually - but they made me taller!) for the first time in probably a year & loving it, a good time at church & having California friends who were in town over for dinner & dessert last night.

Did I mention the weather was perfect? It was.

Here's to a happy Monday with lots of fruit, vegetables & water! Clearly starting right... now.

*Post edit: Just returned from picking up my clean laundry & noticed in the elevator mirror that my underbelly was peeking several inches out of the bottom of my shirt. I'm classy like that these days I suppose.

Watermelon.

I'm a huge fan of Pinkberry's summer flavor selection of Watermelon. Perfect for hot & sticky days, especially when you get it during Happy Hour (half off from 5-7pm!) with nice girls (Suzi & Maribeth). And mango. I really, really love mango.

I do not love it when it's so hot outside that my Pinkberry looks all melty (a word?) like that approximately 1 minute after purchasing it.

I also do not love it when I lug my massive camera out only to discover that my battery is safely at home, happily charging in the wall in preparation for my upcoming travels.

But I do love my iPhone. Not a terrible replacement photo in a pinch.

AND. Oh! Separately. I love having doctor friends who have dopplers! Friend Amy & I met for dinner tonight & then listened to our baby's heartbeats in the comfort of her air conditioned apartment. Just for fun, although I might just insist on it being a semi-weekly ritual.

To San Diego! I'm waking up to catch a cab in approximately 6 hours, which means it's time for last-minute packing & (attempted) sleep.

May 13, 2010

74th & Amsterdam.

Because today was the perfect day to walk across the park with friends & grab a cookie on the other side (they were sadly out of cinnamon brioche).

Apr 1, 2010

Doublewides & other things.

I haven't really felt like blogging this week. Hmm. Maybe because I didn't pull out my camera often enough? Probably.

I just got home from Jill's. She took pity on me & invited me over for dinner (yum) since Mike is out of town. I took some snapshots of Wyatt eating his dinner of black beans + enchiladas mixed in with... chocolate pudding. Sort of a disaster (endearing), kind of disgusting - especially to my pregnant stomach - & really priceless. It was fun, & they're all nice friends.

Speaking of which, kind of.

One of the things I've loved about the last year is the time I've gotten to spend learning how to be a mom. Even though I'm not an official mother yet, I've spent so much time with lots of friends who are wonderful mamas - & I've been lucky enough to do a lot of observing. I can't even begin to describe how much I love / appreciate all of these girls. Couldn't even come close (tears).

I think I've gotten a pretty decent reality check though as well - I have relatively sound expectations about what to expect come September (think Lower East Side diaper blowouts, playground tantrums, exhaustion, hospital trips, living in not-nearly-enough square feet & rampant illness - not pointing any fingers, of course). I appreciate that, too - even if I probably still don't have a clue. And city living + parenting? It's really just not all glamorous. I love this photo of Jill & her boys that I took yesterday. So true to life in this city. Navigating a double-wide in a city grocery store that I can barely even get through with a large handbag? Hauling strollers up & down subway stairs? These girls deserve a lot of sparkly things from their husbands.

This week, gosh... I finally discovered Emack & Bolio's (I'm totally behind on this one), & subsequently went back twice. It's dangerous to have such delicious ice cream 3 minutes away. I had really great Thai food (takeout) with Mindy on Tuesday night while we watched Dancing With the Stars. Kate Gosselin is a total mess. And today - I went & met friends for lunch on Columbia's campus. Evelyn loved posing for photos (she's a real girl), & we sat outside in the sun sans coats, eating paninis while eavesdropping on a circle of students enjoying class outside on the grass, listening to their professor teaching his subject matter in Italian. Almost makes me want to go back to school. But really - such a beautiful day. Loving, loving spring.

Mike's been gone since Tuesday. I prefer him home & can't wait until he's back tonight, but I've stayed busy with with lots of different things this week. And underneath our bed (prime storage space) - it's perfectly organized now, & that feels nice.

I haven't thrown up since last Friday (during the tail end of the Dashboard concert we went to - I was so close to making it through!). This is a miracle, & may even mean that things are finally on the upswing almost 16 weeks later.

Tomorrow - off to DC & the Cherry Blossom Festival

Sep 11, 2009

Raspberry Cobblers.

You know, just a typical Friday afternoon for me, making treats with friends Erin & Jill. I think of all the treats we've made (& we've made many), these are the winners. Topped with lots & lots of whipped cream. Amazing. I guess you could say that I had them for an afternoon treat & dinner, too. Sorry Mike, but you seemed happy enough to have a few yourself in lieu of something more nutritious & protein-filled.

Go make them right this very minute. You'll probably want to send me a thank you card in the mail afterwards.

Wednesday's Lunch.

I figured I couldn't really justify eating anything for lunch after we had this as a mid-day treat. They gave me a little bit  - but not much - more than they usually do. It's actually rather obscene.
