Saturday.

I really love spending every. single. second. with Quinn. I do! He's fun, & at 6 months old he has turned  into a little personality before our very eyes. It makes me happy as can be to be his mama.

Saturday was busy, but the kind of day that I needed. I really love being a mom, & I love spending every day with Quinn, but I've learned over & over again that breaks are a very necessary + a very good thing. I took advantage of Mike being home on Saturday & packed in a trip to the West Village for some love for my hair, a mid-day treat with a friend, grocery shopping, knee-length-shorts shopping (it's hard this season, sigh - I just attacked several pairs of jeans with scissors tonight out of necessity) & attended a workshop held on LDS women &, um, intimacy. A topic far too infrequently discussed, if you ask me, but that's for another post. I capped off the night with 16 Handles with friends, with all of this happened without Quinn. I like taking him around, but the speed at which you can move without a baby! It's kind of liberating, & I also didn't have to be home by 6:15pm. Anyway - It was a little crazy running around, zipping home to feed Quinn (or pump so that Mike could give him a bottle), & then running off again, but I need these days every so often, just to be sans child for a little bit.

Mike was a gem & had fun having a boy's day with Quinn, & somewhere in between everything, we managed to have a quick family dinner up at Shake Shack (by the way - It kind of drives me batty when people call it THE Shake Shack. It reminds me of the people who refer to my alma mater as The BYU).

Anyway - We walked up to 86th Street & grabbed an early dinner, eating outside because it was warm enough. Oh my goodness, this had better mean that spring is coming. It is! It has to be, seriously. I saw tulips popping up on our walk home from church yesterday, & even though it's still a little chilly, I can feel the optimism of spring already. After this long + somewhat isolated winter, I just really feel like I need spring. NEED.

Apparently, I also need Shake Shack once a week. We're approaching our six year New York City anniversary & it was our first dinner out in the city in 2005. It still hasn't gotten old.

Photos! It was almost Q's bedtime, which meant that he was sleepy (but not yet at the point of delirium as is often the case) & not smiley. But still cute & cuddly.

I really want to try SS (is it ok to abbreviate?) someday. Hopefully!

Quinn is such a good mix of you two and really I wish I had his lounge outfits because he always looks so comfortable:)

He really is such a mix of you two. Love your hair, by the way. And yes, being a mom is great, but days out on your own are much needed. I'm a big believer in that.

oh lady. I tried going to 16 handles twice this past weekend and both times I walked in the line was by the door. needless to say...I did not get my fill and it made me sad.

Wait, not even when Grandma Grow calls it The BYU?! I love it when she calls it that - makes me imagine a time so long ago... :) I love 6 months - what a fun age.

Missy - of course you can. :) And hey, I don't make up any rules. Just have pet peeves, I suppose.

MB - The line moves fast! Persevere next time (& call me!).
