Last month (!!), Q & I drove up to Dallas for a quick 24-hour adventure. Erin & I had snagged Feist tickets shortly after we decided to move to Houston (it helped ease the pain), & while Mike & Matt were supposed to come, both ended up working. I'm comfortable enough with the Houston-Dallas drive by now though (I don't even have to stop for gas!), so it was no big deal to go solo. We let the cousin-friends play (Q was introduced to bubbles!), ate Mexican food, got a sitter for the night, & went to the concert.
Live music is one of my very favorite things in life, & Feist? She's amazing. So amazing! Mike & I saw her a few years ago in New York so my expectations were high, & really - the whole thing was so beautiful that I could have cried. I took a lot of video from our 2nd row seats, & I kept showing Mike when I got home, hoping he'd have the same reaction as I'd had in the theater. You had to be there, he kept saying. But still! A few clips below.
Feist snagged a few Appalachian folk singers for her tour & they were seriously the strangest backup singers you've ever, ever seen (there was some sort of strange love triangle happening on stage amongst other things, & internet research has proven that none of them shave their underarms). But their voices! The most beautiful voices. Mountain Men. I'm going to keep following them.

the blond on the right would fit right in a 1980-something coming-of-age john hughes movie. but i guess when you have pipes of gold you can look however you want and it's cool.
just played the mountain man vid for matt, and they sang to the bluegrass hillbilly shacked up in matt's heart. he's their newest fan.
