A New Yorker's Dream.

I had a dream last night that I found a previously undiscovered wing of our apartment. It consisted of a large, open room & a half-dozen closets or so (several of them walk in). Mike is going out of town all of this week for work, & in my dream I spent the entire week reorganizing our apartment & spreading out all of our belongings between closets. Oh, to have an entire closet filled with noting but shoes...

It felt wonderful, but then I woke up.

I have a similar recurring dream. When I was pregnant, people tried to tell me it was about a new room symbolizing a new phase of life, but I had it for years before I ever conceived. I think it was pretty much exactly what it purported to be, my subconscious stretching out and testing what a bigger place would feel like.

What a wonderful dream! Organizing closets is one of my favorite things to do!

I have that dream all the time. I will often find a staircase that leads to another level, or a large closet behind another closet. Waking up is the hardest part.

I read an article in the Times a while ago that said that this is a common dream for all New Yorkers. I guess we are all in it together in this crazy but wonderful city.

That is so funny! I sometimes have dreams that our house has secret passages and Parker is convinced that there is a secret way into the attic, but never extra rooms. That would be cool. I wouldn't tell anyone and I'd hide in there.
