Really? How fun!!! I LOVE London - one of my favorite cities - So much to do. I think since you're a bit short on time you might enjoy taking a city tour and then breaking out to do other things. We did the double decker bus and it was awesome...You can hop on and off at your lesisure...very nice...and a top pick for me anyway. The Tower is great, and you can't miss Harrods. It's just fun to see the different things, and how they market them so differently than we do here in the US. There are many internet sites which will help you as you plan....How many days do you have?
Hooray! One of my very favorite places on earth. Lindsey will probably be your best helps since I left so long ago, but I la-love Portabello Road Market if you're there on a Saturday. And Rocket (a "modern european" restaurant in Lancashire Court) was one of my favorites... but I'm not sure how it is years and years later. Octopus on Carnaby Street is just one of those small quirky, english stores that is worth the stop. [I think I enjoyed Covent Garden the most for shopping.] Oh- and I hear that if you're a sushi fan, you have to try some at the food hall at Harrods. (Maybe you can hit up a fashion show while you're there as well- I watched the victoria secret models once.) :) Of course you could always do a weekend trip to Surrey (my old home) if things get slow, but that's probably impossible. Lucky you!
Aaah! Fall in London is the best. Hands down. Way to pick the perfect time to go. All the suggestions I have heard from others seem great and I am sure Lindsey will be able to help you the most with ideas. Have fun!!
It's been a while but I've been to London a couple of times and it was so fun! I remember we did the double decker bus tour, went to Harrods, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Tower of London, Madame Tussaud's Museum, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey... there's so much to do. You'll have a great time!
I had a great time when I went to London last year. I spent a lot of time just kinda cruising around. We spent time at Leicester Square a lot and just seeing the local color. Also I saw an old woman punch an old man in the face at 11 am outside of a bar. Awesome.
Oh London. You are going to LOVE it. It's the ultimate city, clean and busy and filled with "stuff" to do. Parks, enjoy the parks and Covent Garden and I LOVE the bread pudding (do you like bread pudding) in the "crypt" beneath St. Martins cathedral (the restaurant beneath the chapel). Trafalgar Square makes one (me, only?) feel like they are at the center of the universe with the pigeons and library and political activists (or a massive rollerblading march)...you'll love it.
Okay so I had to click on your friend Jill's comment to look at Whitney's trip to London.... do you know Ryan and Whitney? Are they in your ward (or were, I know they just moved to Cali)? Did you know Ryan was on study abroad with Lindsey and me? Funny small world...
Can I come? I don't even know what I would want to do first. Wait...yes, I do. I would want to get a jacket potato with beans and sit in Hyde Park. And maybe check out at least one play--check Time Out to see which one is getting the best reviews.
I really would just try to soak it all in--walk everywhere and enjoy the fall weather.
Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Globe Theatre, Tower of London - and so much more. You are going to have so much fun! London is my favorite town!

EXCITING! I thought London was fantastic. Check out Whitney's post here about their summer trip to London. Their itinerary was great I think.
