Don't forget socks.

My wellies came in the mail yesterday. I'm very excited. I love them. I’ve needed rain boots for the longest time. I am desperate for it to immediately start pouring rain so that I can walk boldly through puddles without fear.

The big box was in my living room when I got home around 8:30pm last night after work & dinner with friends. I was wearing heels, sans socks (obviously). I threw my shoes off & threw my boots on. I ran around the apartment. I repeatedly showed Mike. I may have jumped up & down. I sat on the couch & watched TV. I talked on the phone.

It was a while, just me & my boots.

And then I tried to take them off.

My feet had gotten sort of warm.

I couldn't get them off. They were really stuck.
.
After way too much effort, one foot was finally freed.

The other - my left foot (slightly bigger) – totally stuck.

My heart started to pound.

I ran into our bedroom where Mike was on the phone & said, If you don't get this boot off of me right now I'm going to have a panic attack.

(I was dead serious.)

He pulled & pulled. And pulled some more. Finally, it came off.

They fit just fine. I just have to be wearing socks or tights.

I wasn't kidding when I said that I worried about my toes feeling claustrophobic in high rubber boots with no zippers.

i love these boots. do you feel like they run big or small? i want to get some...

They run big. Definitely. I typically wear a 6 or a 6 1/2 and bought these in a 5. They fit perfectly.

Zappos has them - free shipping both ways, no tax & tons of colors.

Mine came in the mail yesterday too! After ruining yet another pair of shoes last week, I decided it was time. What color did you get?

Black. My sister got brown. Also very cute.

i'm so jealous. If only I could decide on a color. Decisions are the worst.

Glad you love them and I think a photo shoot to celebrate the wellies may be in order. I have a cute black umbrella that would style it perfectly!

rain boots are a very practical purchase, and i have found mine to come in handy quite often. (mine are kate spade and so when i bought them i was in the salon shoe section of nordstrom and some foreign woman was trying on hundreds of pairs of shoes. when she saw me trying those on she looked at me and said (in her accent) "i would much rather spend my money on shoes i will actually wear! why do you need rain boots? you just get out of your car and go into wherever you're going...it's not like you walk around in the rain!" i almost lost it. i actually had to just stare blankly at her and walk away. clearly she has no idea what it's like to be a BUS commuter on a rainy day. sorry for the long story, but i thought it was applicable).

Jocelyn- I love it when strangers offer their unsolicited opinions while I'm shopping. I think I would have had your same reaction. Except maybe I would have replied with something snotty. If I was already having a bad day.

Yuck.

Hey, just wanted to say I like checking out your blog. I have used some recipes off of your wire whisk blog too (it's linked on the gibby's blogs and they are linked on mine)
Not sure if your remember me from Spokane, I am Talia's sister. I just remember giving you and Talia rides places when you were all friends...

Anyway, just thought I would let you know I was here :)

Funny - Meredith did the same thing when she got her rainboots, except they were bright pink. Like Barbie style. Cant you just picture it?

Trista, of course I remember you (from like 15 years ago! Crazy)! I peeked on your blog- you have such a cute family. :)

SO cute. I want it to rain so I can get some, or just wear the ones I have... but you can never have too many pairs of shoes, right?

I love this story. And I'm so glad you finally got your rain boots!

Kathryn...I'm sad you didn't take advantage of the wellie no need to match rule and go crazy with the color. Black is much too predictable. I would have liked a photo of you in your conservative BLACK Banana Republic suit and your crazy polka-dotted (or striped) wellies.

Next year maybe?
