Sephora. 48th & 5th Avenue
I'm good at a few things.
I won a few tennis matches back in the day.
I played a Beethoven Concerto at my Senior Recital.
I type about 100 wpm.
My scrambled eggs are pretty yummy.
But I can't pluck my own eyebrows to save my life. I tried again, a few weeks ago. Because really, I'd rather buy a cute shirt than pay someone $35 to give me pretty arched brows. But per usual (will I never learn?), mine ended up looking more like toothpicks. Toothpick are straight, & not especially flattering on the face. It wasn't great.
Enter a few weeks of grow-out (gross). I finally made an appointment & went to Anastasia's this afternoon, & after 15 minutes of plucking & (gentle) waxing, I came away feeling like a new woman. Seriously, I don't know how that works, but eyebrows are apparently A BIG DEAL. Small changes = big difference on the face. Mike even noticed once - he said, You look pretty. What's different? (And yes, boys, this post is not for you.)
I'm a happier person now that I have well-groomed brows. How superficial am I? Don't answer that.
Oh, & I walked out of Sephora without spending a single additional penny. I think that's a first, ever, in all of my NYC history. I sort of love that place, & I'm always finding something that I need.
(This was on repeat in my head the whole time: I do not need more eyeshadow. I do not need more lipgloss. I do not need more eyeshadow. I do not need more lipgloss.)
Oh. And maybe I went to Anthropologie afterwards, & the woman in the fitting room REMEMBERED MY NAME. I was mortified. I guess I've had some free time on my hands.

I love Anastasia's Brow Studio too. Thank goodness they have them in Nordstrom, or I would be lost. And you're right, eyebrows make a big difference.
See, I have the problem of thinking I know how to pluck my own eyebrows and actually don't-I think I need to make an appointment with Anastasia asap.
I agree- eyebrows are a big deal! I always notice others eyebrows.
I like eyebrows too and think I need to find an Anastasia's by me.
What kind of purse are you carrying these days? You really take your camera everywhere. I want to too.
I should get my eyebrows done by someone professional.
tennis? cool. I would like to be good at tennis. and a beethoven concerto? awesome.
Missy - my bag is always big enough to carry a
camera
book
wallet
water
That's my rule. It has to carry those things. That being said, most of my bags are pretty big... and my back always hurts. :)
I just love reading your blog! I now think I need to work on my eyebrows a little bit more!!
- Hey, how do you make your pictures so big? I post mine "large" but they never are as big as yours. I want to make mine bigger!!!
