We're off to our nation's capital for the weekend (after much discussion, I've determined that it is a capital, but the capitol). Cherry blossoms, the Eastern Market, Georgetown Cupcake.
We're taking Bolt Bus. A very inexpensive & convenient option (I'm on my laptop, on the bus, somewhere in New Jersey this very second).
But getting to the bus pickup just wasn't so convenient.
I hauled my relatively small roller suitcase + purse (which is always huge) + laptop/camera bag (heavy) through the following maze:
Down 29 floors (I just said my prayer of gratitude for elevators).
Up the bus stairs.
Down the bus stairs.
Down the subway entrance stairs.
Through the subway turnstile (actually, the gate - I was a wide load).
Onto the (packed) subway car.
Up the stairs at Grand Central Terminal.
Up the escalator.
Through the turnstiles for the Shuttle (subway to Times Square).
Down the stairs to the subway platform.
Onto the (packed) subway.
Up the stairs to the "1" train transfer at the Times Square station.
Down the stairs to the subway platform.
Onto the (crowded) subway.
Up the bazillion stairs to our exit at 33rd Street.
A) No one once offered to help me in my struggle. No surprise.
B) My back hurts.
C) I could (should) have spent $20 & just taken a cab.
"C" is why living in New York is so blasted expensive. I'm trying to be better.
Sometimes the simple things are simply not simple in Manhattan.
(But I still love it. See you soon, New York.)

Eastern Market is a must and the Cherry Blossoms this year are amazing! When at Eastern Market you MUST get the blue bucks pan cakes. You won't be let down! I love calling DC my home! Have fun!
Have fun! I can't wait to see all the pretty photos you'll take.
have a great time!
I took the train to Philly this morning. It took me an hour to get to Penn Station, on the subway, then in a cab when the subway got held up. The train to Philly (100 miles) took 1 hour and 8 minutes.
But I still love NY.
I am sure you will have some great photos of the cherry blossoms (and everything you see of course)
Ooh, I second what everyone else is saying. The photos are going to be amazing, I'm sure. Can't wait to see them. I love DC.
