The funny thing about taking photos in Central Park is that you sort of never really know what you're going to get, & sometimes a bit of flexibility is required. I took family photos yesterday afternoon & it was sort of a hilariously perfect example of why New York & Central Park are always keeping me on my toes.
Location #1 - Homeless man sleeping, with quite a bit of gear. We decide to come back, hoping that he wakes up from his nap & move elsewhere.
Location #2 - Bethesda Fountain has turned into a massive junior chess tournament. Seriously. Hundreds of chess games happening at once. It looks serious.
Location #3 - The perfect bench? With their names on it? Of course, there's a large a capella group singing the likes of Lady GaGa & Coldplay directly in front of it. With a relatively large crowd. Awesome. They're decent though, so we listen for a minute. Not as great as Glee.
Location #4 - Husband of said family being photographed decides to join in with a group of teenage boys & their skateboards. Apparently he's good, because they all cheer & yell when he does that thing where you flip the board a few times & land on it.
Anyway. Photos to come. It was a perfectly overcast, cool day & it really just couldn't have been better, even if a couple of ideas in my head couldn't quite work out due to crowds, chess games, vagabonds, etc.
By the way - yellow balloons make people happy. They just do. I carried it from our apartment to the park & probably got 15 comments along the way, all positive (except one woman remarking to her friend that perhaps I was looking for someone?).

Balloons in general make people happy, but a yellow perfectly round one?! Even better.
