Christmas in the City: Snow.

Snow!!

Lots of it!!

Oh my gosh. Today was just one of those days where my little heart just about burst through my chest out of love for our city. I made these photos representatively extra-giant, & I think I actually squealed several times during the day. It was just a good, happy Saturday. And really - despite the fact that this is our 5th Christmas here, it just never gets old. It's magical.

See, I started off with a nice run. It just felt good to wake my body up & I think the endorphins are good for me, too. Afterwards, we went north on the subway & had this amazing lunch up in Spanish Harlem at this tiny little place Mike found a while ago. They don't really speak English, but the price of everything on the menu only has one number (!!), & they make the most amazing cemitas. And Coke! They have real Coke, the kind with actual sugar in it from south of the border. Amazing. And then we came upon a Puerto Rican (Mexican?) donut shop on our way to the subway. We saw it & just knew that we had to go in. Our 75-cent (!!) donut was amazing. We'll go back. We're big fans of this section of the barrio, even if we probably shouldn't go past dark.

We went to the MOMA. We need to go back next week because the tickets we wanted to get (for a Tim Burton exhibition) were sold out for the day, but we wandered nonetheless, & had a little bit of fun wiht the camera. We're so lucky to have all of these massive museums right in our backyard. I guess it was a big museum week, & I just feel grateful that we get to go. Next - Mike & I walked down 6th Avenue, stopping & looking at all of the gigantic ornaments that they have in the lower 50's (so pretty). We headed east to Rockefeller Center, despite the fact that the snow was coming down so quickly & our toes were just about numb. But the tree! It's beautiful when it's all lit up & snowing. Saks 5th Avenue & the Christmas lights. The bells! The angels! The carolers! The halal trucks covered in Christmas lights, the subway stations decorated, the Christmas tree lots, the snow covered cabs. The list goes on & on. It was just beautiful today, & adventuring with my husband - that's fun.

And did I mention the snow?! Tomorrow morning should be interesting.

I heard about the blizzard. It sounds fun. I think. But you make it all out to be so wonderful that I can't help but be really happy for you.

You live in a great city and the snow is a bonus! I'm in Boston and it's a winter wonderland today!

Another bonus, not mentioned is that you don't have to dig out a car or scrape a windshield!
I'm so happy you had a wonderful week, and I love that you share it with us!
