These photos are from Tara's yard. Today. I took them. Which means that we're still in Portland, after our second flight of the week was cancelled.
Next flight out - Friday.
Friday! Seriously. It's kind of funny. And a little infuriating. But really not that big of a deal at the end of the day. I only cried for 7 seconds at the airport this morning & I blame that on hormones & sleep deprivation.
It could be worse! We could:
a) be stuck somewhere random & not fun
b) secretly not like my sister + her family
c) have a serious need to be back in the city
Luckily, we like Portland (& the people here). We love Tara & her family, & Mike has flexibility with work. The biggest inconvenience was that Tara had to drive back to the airport again this morning to pick us up, her second trip of the day. Our 6:40am flight had enough delays that they suggested that we find an alternate route, with that route being Friday. Actually, that was the second biggest inconvenience. The most not-fun part of the day was waking up at 3:30am (after a 2:30am feeding with Q) in order to get to the airport by 4:45am, & this was after a fun dinner out with Kevin & Tara at Andina & a not so early bedtime. Sleep deprivation makes me want to gouge me eyes out.
So! We're here until Friday, grateful to be warm & safe, & happy that we get to be with the Edwards for a few more days (& only slightly disappointed to be missing out on the adventure in the city with all of the snow). Tara & I went grocery shopping this afternoon so we'll do some fun cooking. Mike will get to go snowboarding again & go see the Blazers play on Thursday night. I'll get to watch Ellie's cheer practice, take a few naps & finally take a bubble bath in Tara's giant bath tub. Quinn made the adjustment to Pacific Time about a day ago & loves all of the attention he's been getting, so we may as well not mess things up with his routine (again) quite yet. See. No complaints. Only that my mailbox is probably overflowing, & I miss my city friends (Hi! city friends!).
(Speaking of Quinn, by the way - Mike figured out today that by the time we make it back to New York, Quinn will have spent 13% of his life in Portland. He's almost like a new baby, with all of the new tricks he's learned since we got here.)
I should mention that I love my sister. I really do. This morning - she had blueberry pancakes, bacon & a great big glass of milk ready for me when I stumbled downstairs after a quick nap following our airport debacle. She held my baby & offered to do a bazillion other things for me, & didn't even act the slightest bit annoyed that we will have been here for basically two weeks by the time we leave. She deserves medals.
And I deserve sleep. Off I go.
Side note: It rains a lot in Portland. I need to go buy a happy lamp.

I think we should just keep Quinn for you. After all, we wouldn't want to mess up his sleep schedule again! And I love that you might actually be here to see the rain stop! Plus, now we will have time to hit the food carts downtown, Cannon Beach, and La Provance!
The Pacific Northwest is trying to tell you to stay.
I hate to say this, but this post makes me SUPER jealous. I wish you were staying here for two week. I want to hold Quinn while you nap. Can't you just stop here for a few days. The weather has been 50 degrees all month. Sort of crazy.
I could easily live in Portland or the pacific northwest. I LOVE the rain.
Those pictures are amazing! I love them. Enjoy being stranded. I think it sounds like a blast!
Whew. We finally made it home after three cancellations and re-bookings. Connecticut looked so good after a 22 hour journey SLC-San Francisco-JFK. But storms can bring good things-- we got to ski more in UT and have more of Grandma Lora's home-cooked meals. We wish you extra fun in Portland and a smooth journey on Friday with a sleepy, happy baby! You have a great attitude.
love the top two photos...some of my favorites you have ever taken. Hope you make it back:)
