Erin came to New York.

In June. It's now July.

(I'm trying.)

When Erin first moved to New York, she was living right around the corner + down the street from our 92nd Street apartment. It made for easy visits, & our doormen always sent her right up - because she was my sister, clearly. We never corrected them, but after figuring out pretty immediately that we were going to be the very best of friends, it warmed my heart every time she was zipped up our elevator without them buzzing first.

Fast forward a few years, a few babies, & a few moves. Matt bought Erin a surprise ticket to fly from The Great State of Texas to New York for the weekend (a good husband move that I hope my husband replicates in the coming months / years). We saw each other in April, & all parties agreed that frequent visits are just a good thing. Anyway - The afternoon that she was arriving - her first visit to our 80th Street apartment - our doorbell rang. No buzz! They had zipped her up the elevator. Because she's my sister, clearly. Almost three friendship years later, & that's a true statement. Not just because we kind of look alike.

So! Despite the fact that it was maybe the most stressful weekend of our lives (Mike resigned on Friday morning, & Erin arrived Friday afternoon - had it been anyone else, this may have been an issue), we had a really, really lovely time & (almost) all was right in the world. We had a really great dinner at Market Table Friday night, shopped in Soho on Saturday with Suzi & went out for Mexican Saturday night. Of course we went to Shake Shack, & Erin made Quinn giggle. A lot. Mike was a good husband / friend / father & took over all parenting duties for the weekend (minus those he can not physically do) & I am grateful for that. Because there are few things better in life than being with most of your very favorite friends. Even if a pitiful amount of photos were taken. We were having too much fun.

I love this idea, & would just like to add that we need to have a friend convention so that we can pick the location for our future colony where we will all live on the same block. Preferably in New York City. In brownstones.

I think it is your dimples and your smile eyes. Those kinds of friends are imperative to life. Glad you are moving closer to her at least yes??
