Quinn. He's growing up. Recently, he's been zooming through his ABC's & counting to twenty repeatedly, all day long, & really, really fast. Sometimes he goofs up the order a bit, but it's so funny to see how his brain just goes zoom. I think sometimes it sort of short-circuits & maybe that can explain all of his shrieking! This boy! Every since he was a little one... His volume is loud.
(We finally switched his car seat to forward-facing, with hopes that the decibel level in my car will go down a bit. The jury is still out.)
He's totally obsessed with Trader Joe's peaches & cream yogurt - you know, the kind that is extra-thick & basically like custard? I think it's amazing, too (although I'm still sort of staying away from things that are overtly dairy), but Quinn - he's obsessed.

We play a lot of fill-in-the-blanks with him lately. Like, stopping at a word in one of his favorite books & seeing if he knows it (he always does), like Mike in this video.
As I was putting him to bed the other night, I decided to try it with his special bedtime song, the lullaby we've sung to him since he was born. Sure enough -
Go to sleep my ___ Baby!
Sleep now little ____ You!
Sleep my little ____ Baby!
Dream of powder ____ Blue!
Flowers in the ____ Sunshine!
Boats upon the ____ Lake!
Dream my little ____ Baby!
I'll see you when you ____ Wake!
I'm telling you, I totally lost it in that moment. First of all, because he's been listening! He has paid attention to the one trillion times I have sung that song to him for the past two years, before every nap & bed time.
Secondly - the past 29 months of his life flashed before my eyes, with all of those hours (days, I'm sure) spent rocking him to sleep singing that song over & over & over & over again - & now he can say all of those words?! My heart was ready to burst.
Lately, he's been running around with Puppy & Donkey saying, Puppy! Donkey! Friends! & then making them kiss. This explains a lot. They both sleep with him each night - Donkey on the right, Puppy on the left. If you put them down next to him the opposite way, he'll switch them back. He insists on snuggling with them post-nap if he wakes up sad. If he wakes up happy, they both stay in his crib so that they can snooze.
He loved his Valentine treats from Grandma & Grandpa + Aunt Kylie this week. I think he's finally learning the real significance of cake!! (candy, cookies, actual cake, you name it). He almost had a nervous breakdown tonight when we couldn't have dessert (cake, actually) before dinner.

I spent about 20 minutes running circles around our kitchen island with him tonight, sprinting around until we were both winded & he was asking for water. His giggles! I love him.
And sweet West. He's just that - so sweet. He's mellow, & easy, & gives his smiles so freely. I think he's going to be such a nice boy. He's grabbing things, being quite chatty, & loving playing with his animal friends on the play mat. He goes to sleep easily, & I put him down last night sans swaddle (sniff, sniff) - just a sleep sack, with his arms totally free. Most of the time, he'll wake up in the morning or from naps & just stick his fingers in his mouth & suck happily away until my magic mama sensor goes off & I come in & get him. The other day, I caught him with all ten of his fingers in his mouth. All ten! Who needs a binky? His pointer finger is his favorite, & it's almost always in his mouth (we'll hope this isn't a problem in a few months...).
He still won't take a bottle. I'm out of frozen milk. Sigh.
He's slow to ramp up, easily soothed & pretty even-keeled.
He's still not the biggest fan of tummy time. We're working on getting his head a bit more round (second neuro appointment is in a few weeks), but otherwise he's just perfect.
Some photos - with a few from my iPhone, too.

West! He looks so tiny on that big couch and drapes behind him. But, he is getting squishy and big(ger). it's always amazing to me to see them grow and blogs/social media make it easy to witness the slight changes.
