Oh bother.

Continuing with the theme of shoes {Mike's favorite topic, right?}... What was I thinking today?! I've turned into a total wuss. I have built up quite the collection of high heels. I went through a phase my senior year of college where I wore only flats. I LOVED flats. I had all of my jeans hemmed so that they were the perfect length... with flats. For whatever reason {perhaps trying to feel more grown up?}, I went through a flats rebellion of sorts shortly before/after moving to NYC {it really should have been the other way around}. I invested in high heels- of many varieties. All of a sudden, all of my jeans were simply too short. We'll skip the year of jeans shopping & shoe shopping... And here we are, back to the flats obsession {or wedges, or maybe a small kitten heel}. I've been wearing flats for months. I rarely wear a big heel to work. They just aren't practical, & I like the look of flats. I may not be very tall, but I've gotten in the habit of banishing most of my heels to their shoe boxes for months at a time. Well, I decided to spice things up today and wore my very tall BCBG heels. Extra pointy, extra tall. Extra NOT COMFORTABLE. I've been wearing my flip flops all day at my desk. I will put on my heels only when it is absolutely necessary for my survival to get up & walk around. My feet starting screaming as soon as I put these on this morning. I hate having my toes constricted/squished. I can't even wear socks to bed! What was I thinking? I can tell that I'm not used to them anymore. My endurance has been destroyed. I can barely walk {& I used to be able to walk blocks & blocks in heels without a problem}. They really are quite miserable.
No more high heels, except for extra-special occasions. This is ridiculous. {Oh- & I love Wikipedia}.
Update: I'm wearing heels today {8/28}- but nice ones. Square-toed {extra roomy}, thicker heel {comfortable to walk in}. I have two pairs, actually {in patent leather black & a 2nd pair in brown, thanks to a BCBG sample sale}. I can handle these for sure...

I went through something similar. Except my heel passion began my senior year at BYU. I walked to school in heels and all around campus and I was fine. Since entering the work world I have fallen in love with flats again. I always still wear heels to church though. And just yesterday I was thinking how unfortunate it is that some people never wear heels, or that I don't more often. NOTHING could be more flattering to a woman's figure- longer legs, posture, etc. So I think I am going to start wearing them again more often (beyond just church). Funny how that entails a new set of pants to go along with it. And yeah I will have to break my feet in again, which can be painful. And the very reason some people don't wear heels (which I guess I can't blame them). Sorry that was so long...

I choose comfort :)

You know me.....Your mother has NEVER owned a pair of heels....never wanted them...never imagined trying to ajust to them.....feared falling down in them....opted for comfort...always. Of course I've never been cute or stylish either, so that it explains it all.

When I worked at Nordstrom it was a sort of contest to see who could wear the tallest (and most uncomfortable) heel. Of course, no one spoke of this contest, we just all played.

I'm over high heels except for on Sundays. I couldn't even wear them when I was teaching--too much standing in one place which is just as bad as walking blocks and blocks.

Wait until you have kids...you'll be lucky if you wear anything besides flip-flops.

I love the look of heels, but for me it's just not practical since I walk everywhere! Cute shoes, though. I always think that someday when I drive a car to church (or drive a car places, period) that I'll where high heels sometimes...for now it's flats, flip flops and tennis shoes! I do like kitten heels and have a pair from nordstrom that I could wear all around the city and still be comfortable!

I meant - wear, not where....

I never wear heels. Devin and I are the same height - maybe I'm 1/2" taller? and I feel like I should wear flats for that reason. Although there is a girl in my ward that wears super super high heels making herself right close to her husband's height. Anyway, I basically only wear flip flops, but this post made me kinda wish I owned a pair of heels - Heidi's comment especially! Thanks:)
