Canstruction, etc.

The Mona Lisa.
There's never not something to do in New York. Case in point: This afternoon we went to an event called Canstruction, a design/build competition put on by the Society for Design Administration (SDA). Teams of architects, engineers, and students mentored by these professionals, compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. The results are displayed to the public as magnificent sculpture exhibits. At the close of the exhibitions all of the canned food used in the structures [& the can of food per person required for entry] is donated to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs that include pantries, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers.

The bear & the polar bears.

The frog {my personal favorite}.

Ice cream.

Shake Shack for dinner.
..

.
City Bakery for the 2nd best hot chocolate in the city, plus a pretzel croissant {we ran into the missionaries there- they recommended the pretzel croissant, a salty version of one of my favorite treats}.
.
Sleeping in {after staying up late watching The Namesake - didn't love it, but loved the book}, shopping around lower 5th Avenue {one of my favorite spots}, yummy hot chocolate, an unusual art exhibit {for a great cause}, Shake Shack, browsing through Barnes & Noble, lots of time in slippers, & being in absolutely no rush all day. It was a nice Saturday.

Oh, I'm sad you didn't like the movie. Maybe because you read the book first? I haven't read the book. I really liked the movie though.

Fun Saturday. We had a fun day in the city too.

That exhibit looks really cool and love the reasoning behind it.
