Dave.

We went & saw Dave Matthews Band last night in Hartford, CT with Steve & Jeanne, + Bryan. Despite parking in a strip club's parking lot filled with broken bottles & dirty needles (joking?), we managed to make our way through the virtually naked & thoroughly inebriated crowd entering the concert. Really though- we had a good time, but sitting in the virtually empty "family section" once we got into the amphitheater was a great move- unobstructed view, & no one passed out on me this time (like when we saw Pearl Jam perform at the same venue a few years ago). I really did feel old & conservative. Oh well. I'm okay with the latter, anyway, but I really did feel like I was dressed like a nun at the beach.

.
I love live music & I loved seeing these guys perform for 2 1/2 hours. They are truly amazing musicians who obviously love what they do. The drummer is undoubtedly one of the happiest people I've ever seen in my life- he looked like he was being tickled the whole time- a huge grin on his face throughout the entire show. Tim Reynolds played with them as well, which was a cool surprise. I'll admit to having not really paid attention to DMB since high school or early college, so it was fun to be introduced to a few of my now-favorite songs (both off of Stand Up - Old Dirt Hill & Out of My Hands).

Next up on our summer concert list- Joshua Radin in July & Coldplay (thanks again, to Mike's parents) in August. Can't wait.

So cool! I love Dave Matthews and really haven't listened to him much since high school either...I'm sure it was amazing. Oh and Tim Reynolds too - they are such a great combination. Mike's parents seem like quite the concertists.

I loved DMB in high school too, but have listened to them really since. Very cool you are going to Coldplay! They are already sold out in London - bummer. Love them.

I think is is so wonderful that you got to go to the concert with Jeanne and Steve. Also I think it was great that you found the more safe and sane section reserved for families. I remember the one trip I made to the Gorge to see Bare Naked Ladies.....It was pretty surreal, not to mention odiferous!

Very fun! Did I tell you we went to the Kenny Chesney concert last week? I wish there had been a family section. Country people are rowdy!
