We had a nice weekend.
- I babysat (if you can call it that) for a friend Friday night. Baby Evelyn slept the entire time, so I guess maybe you could say that I protected their apartment from invasion by robbers while they were away. Fairly minimal effort was required.
- Took the train out early Saturday morning to go shopping with Mike's siblings (Cara & Bryan) @ Woodbury Commons. I could survive shopping exclusively at the JCrew & Banana Republic outlets. Oh- we had breakfast at a cute little deli in Darien & ate outside. It was so perfect. I love East Coast delis (bacon, egg & cheese on a roll, please).
- Went out to dinner Saturday night with Mary & Bryan Porter (sadly moving to DC this week- sniff sniff) + JT & Lizzie Davis (new friends- we hired JT to come work at Silver Point, which will be fun) at Blue Smoke. We love good barbecue + good friends (+ narrowly missing the torrential downpour that came right after we arrived at the restaurant).
- Had a busy Sunday, including dinner with Sarah Jane & Nathan Bowen (I made Southern Living Enchiladas & Mike made Strawberry Shortcake).
- Rented August Rush & then totally forgot to watch it. Maybe tonight, if we get home early enough.
- I managed to get 8 hours of sleep last night & I'm still exhausted. I'm glad it's a short week.
In other news - we have extra Coldplay tickets for August 2nd, so if anyone wants to buy them- please tell.
And - We're putting together an Happy 6th of July barbecue for friends @ Central Park this coming Sunday, since the 4th has everyone running in different directions. I need to make something yummy, preferably in the "main dish" category. Any ideas? Must be a) portable b) inexpensive to make for a large (+/- 20) group, & cold. And also delicious.
AND - we totally missed the longest day of the year (June 20th this year). I'm seriously disappointed. I can't believe you didn't call to tell me, Dad. I always anticipate that yearly phone call, & when I realized it hadn't come yet... Sigh. Anyway- this means that the days are only getting shorter now, which means that winter is coming, & that pretty soon New York City will be miserably, tortuously cold. Bitter, bitter cold.
AND - 46 days until we're at Priest Lake. Wait. That seems very, very far away. Sigh.

You could do that tortellini salad and add the spinach last minute, or a simple pasta salad with bowtie pasta, cherry tomatoes, fetta, black olives, green and red pepper and a cheesy vinaigrette. (Super easy and refreshing.) Or a variety of small gourmet sandwiches (I often look on WS for ideas). Good luck! Sounds fun.
I can't wait for you to go to Priest Lake. Always the best time and photos for us to share in. Sounds heavenly right now!! :)
My suggestion, Cafe Rio Pulled pork. Yum. And makes a TON if you double the recipe.
I'm glad your babysitting went better than when you watched Parker :) I know you would do great, even if the baby was awake!
