Music.

Wednesday: Joshua Radin @ The Filmore on Irving - NYC.

/
Saturday: Chris Martin & friends - Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, CT.

Us. Yes, my hair is always, always in a ponytain during NYC summers.
.
We had a big music week. On Wednesday, we saw Joshua Radin in celebration of our 39-month anniversary (it was a nice coincidence, anyway). Vanessa Carlton opened for him, & I was quite underwhelmed with her. She didn't have a strong voice, & I found her relatively unimpressive on the piano, which didn't help the fact that she had an absolute lack of any personality or stage presence. But Joshua. He's just so great live. I loved seeing him in Salt Lake earlier this year, & I loved getting to see him again, especially in such a small & intimate venue. I love the stories he tells, I love his whisper music & I love how powerful his voice is when he allows it to be. The difference though- this time he was happy. Like, really noticeably happier. He made reference to it several times, saying I just woke up one morning & felt better. His new & literally improved mood was evident in his newer songs - happy, upbeat & optimistic. Mike & I agree that we sort of prefer the depressed Joshua. Oh well. His new album comes out this month & I'm excited.
.
Last night was Coldplay in Hartford, CT. Loved them. So amazing. I had my doubts (they seem to be an album band, & not necessarily a concert band), but they were totally unfounded. They did really creative things (acoustic songs played in the middle of the nosebleed seats, the drummer sang a song, & Chris spent a lot of time solo on the piano), had a ton of energy & are obviously really, really talented musicians. We listened to their new album the whole way up & back, & we're sold on it. I'm sort of jealous of Gweneth.
.
We took some great video at both shows & I'll upload them as soon as blasted Blogger will cooperate. Not that I'm frustrated or anything.

oooo I'm so jealous- especially of the Coldplay concert!!

Oh and my sister went to that Joshua Radin concert in SLC and she was not digging how depressed he was. I will have to tell her he is happier now.

I love both those so I'm sure the concerts were great. I always forget how perfect live music is until I go to it...

Love the lipgloss too - what color?
