Weekend Photo'd.

We threw a see you later party on Friday night for Ruth's mom Luz (with Baby Winston, who belongs to Caitlin). She stayed with Ruth & Jared for the summer & basically took care of all of us for the summer (especially in the most-amazing-Mexican-food-ever department). We're going to miss her.

Our number of friends has increased exponentially, thanks to all of the new little arrivals in the last few months (upwards of 5), with a few more on the way.

SNL.

I made this Asian Noodle Salad for dinner on Sunday (Amy & Tim came over- they are fun). Let's just say that I didn't really pay attention to the recipe & didn't realize how HUGE this was going to be. We could have easily fed 20. It was a pretty salad (about 12 brightly colored, chopped ingredients), & good enough, but I'm not sure I'd add it to my favorites list.

I made Lauren's Scrap Cake (with berries + whipped cream + TJ's mini merengues on top) for dessert. Had a bit of a technically difficulty actually getting the cake out of the bundt pan. -2 points for presentation, but I love this recipe. I'm going to pretend that I didn't add up all of the calories/grams of fat in the one cup of shortening that the recipe requires. I almost threw up.

Our view to the north from our apartment windows (the FDR Highway, the East River, the George Washington Bridge, New Jersey if you have superhero vision).

Our view to the south (midtown, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building).

I have yet to get the cake out of the pan in an orderly fashion. Oh well, the taste makes up for it.

Really Lauren?? That makes me feel so much better. It wasn't pretty, but it is SO good.

I'm thinking that if you put a pan, or better yet a cooling rack over the cake AFTER its cooled for, let's say, five minutes....then flip it over in one motion, you might not have the problem.....But then again, I might be wrong. I can tell you have a nice pan, but part of the problem might be that the volume of the cake didn't fill it entirely. It looks so pretty though. Yum!
How lucky for Ruth and her Mom that they could be with each other during the first months of little Winston's life. I'm sure it was it was a great blessing for one and all.

That was a fun surprise. I'm glad we were able to get her to your apartment.
