✷ Friday Giveaway ✷

My lovely Internet Friends:

The forecast for Saturday? 60 degrees (!!). This means that a Central Park run is in order. This also means that my iPod needs some serious updating. You see, music is a huge motivator for me when I run. If I listen to Sea Lion Woman a few times in a row, I can get in an extra 2 miles that I didn't think I had in me. Put a Ring On It makes me want to work out hard enough so that I could someday wear a leotard + heels with confidence - should I want to. The problem is that the majority of my music tends to lean towards the weepy variety. Mellow. Sleepy. Often acoustic. Literally, songs that I could nap to. Joshua, as much as I love him, is not exactly ideal for hitting the pavement (or gym).

Here's where you come in. I want to know your favorite tunes on your gym playlist, the ones that get you going on a Monday morning, that make you want to dirty dance alone in your living room, or the songs that you sing aloud to in the car (or shower). Happy songs with a strong beat.

Leave a comment before Wednesday, March 11th (10pm EST). I'll randomly select a winner & if I draw your name, I'll send you a $15 iTunes gift card so that you can create your very own favorite playlist.

Try Kanye West's "school spirit". That song always makes me tap my toes, or hit the pavement...whatever you prefer :)

I also enjoy KT Tunstall's "suddenly i see".

This is a great idea. I'll email you a list (too long to post). The best prize would be if you send us all the complete list of everything everyone sent in. I've also been looking for new exercise music!
Glad you're back to running! I think we're all ready for spring!

Like you I run much better with tunes. Lately the two songs I find myself rewinding and playing again on my runs are Single Ladies (Beyonce - love her!), and Kids (MGMT). I also like Time to Pretend and Electric Feel (also MGMT), Intervention (Arcade Fire), Ooh La La (Goldfrapp), I Predict a Riot (Arctic Monkeys), Agenda Suicide (The Feint), and pretty much every song on Pieces of the People We Love (The Rapture).

What about Red Hot Chili Peppers "Snow (Hey O)"? It's up beat and has a cool guitar part. Chris has been working on the guitar part, its really fast :-)

My all-time favorite running music was an 80's mix my friend made me. It had the Rocky Theme (Eye of the Tiger)of course, also Like a Prayer (Madonna), Beat It (Michael Jackson), Don't Stop Believing (Journey), Even Flow (Pearl Jam). Seriously, 80's music is so funny!

I am looking for a good running mix-- post yours when you come up with it.

I need to see your playlist results too. I haven't worked out in forever, but Machine Head by Bush (even though it's old) is one that always helped me get up the half mile stretch of steady uphill to my house. I can't wait to run again!!

I really love your blog. I am sorta' a secret lurker.(Not in a scary way, I promise!) I love this giveaway. How fun! Music is totally a must have for running. I really dig listening to The Killers while running or lets not forget - Sexyback but Justin Timberlake. I feel really silly saying that, but it gets me movin'!

Right now I love "Mercy" by Duffy. Also "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" by Aretha Franklin usually gives me a boost to get over that next hill. And "Pocket full of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield is a fun one.

Some of my favorite are OK GO, and American Boy. You can really get going with those. Makes me want to go work out just thinking about it.
