By the way, Rainbow on 76th and 1st has a great selection of mason jars in various sizes, at much better prices than Amazon.
(This apple peeler is now on my wish list.)
The recipe suggests using half-pint mason jars, which makes me especially happy since I love small glass jars in general. They're just cute, right?

those are incredibly cute...and i'm sure they are tasty as well. confession- i have that apple peeler and have never once used it. i threw away the directions and it intimidates me!

Jocelyn, the apple peeler is SO easy to use. Just suction it onto the counter, stab in the apple, make sure the clip is clipped in the right spot & spin! Voila.
I've bookmarked this. It's the best idea.. especially if they're tasty. Domestic indeed!
Wow those look so good. I'm going apple picking in a couple weeks and planning to make apple pie, so I might just have to make these too.
Upstairs: still one of our favorites, although the service the other night was bad. Bad. But the food I got was awesome and so was my mom's. I've yet to have food there I don't like. So I'd say it's worth a shot if you guys feel the urge to try it again. Oh, they did make the downstairs an official part of the restaurant, but I have no desire to eat anywhere but Upstairs, duh!

I found them at a local hardware / home store near us. They were like $1 a piece. You can buy them online, but they're pricey. Maybe try a local grocery store or something in your area? Where do they sell mason jars? Hmm.
pies in a jar. i love the idea. i think they look amazing ladies. i must give this a try - and have a freezer packed full. yum.
I am going to make those today! Seriously cute! Do you think anyone will notice if I use store bought pie crust?
