Absolutely LOVED East of Eden (I should re-read it myself) and found myself very agitated after reading Tess, despite the excellent writing.

I love books like The Great Bridge. I'm from DC originally, and for Christmas I gave Ryan a book all about how the DC was designed by L'Enfant (lots of circles, arcs. Amazing design and lots of free mason history in the city, too.

I bet you are enjoying your break from Seminary. Warning: January and February tend to be the hardest months. Break out the games and surprise lessons!! One day I kep the lights off and we used flashlights. We had a whole lesson about what it takes to keep the light of Christ and stay "out of the dark!"

Careen, Emma's sister, here. My mom pulled up your blog so I started reading. East of Eden is my favorite book of all time. On my first date with my husband, I asked him what kind of books he likes. He said his favorite book was East of Eden and he had it right next to his bed. It was love after first cheesy first date question.
