He wears sweatshirts.

Currently: Snowing + thundering & lightning. It's kind of a scary combination.

Today: I went & saw a friend with a brand new baby. All the feelings I had those first few weeks with Quinn came flooding back - the poignant emotions of being totally in love with our tiny new little boy, but also (& especially) those moments of being completely exhausted & overwhelmed. I got through it only because of my mother, my sister, & the kind friends who so willingly offered help during those first sweet few weeks, & I'm grateful for them*. Now, I find myself sort of surprised that I'm in a place where maybe I can be of help to a new mama, & I'm grateful all over again for those women.

(I like this idea of womanhood, by the way. That we all hold hands & stick together, you know?)

And now, here we are 18 weeks later. We have a green eyed, brown (blonde-ish?) haired little boy who is 25 inches long! And so happy. Seriously, he's the happiest boy. He wakes up happy! I never thought that would happen. And, he wears sweatshirts! That strikes me as a very grown up thing to do, so putting him in a sweatshirt today made me feel like I'd be shipping him off to college in a week. I'm sure it will continue to be a very valid cliché - it just goes by SO. FAST. & I just want to hang on to every single day as tightly as I can. I'll take photos instead.

Today, we lounged in our sweats for most of the day until we ventured out later in the afternoon (in the snow! a first for Quinn). Friend Julie came & had dinner with us, & saved me from needing to take a mental health vacation. I talked to Mike - in San Francisco - via FaceTime. It was a good day.

*And my husband, who is wonderful. Of course.

He is such a bright-eyed, beautiful baby boy. I hope you get by with Mike away! It really is extra-exhausting not to have those extra hands, even for just a few hours. I also feel bad for the traveler that has to miss out on the cute boy.

Whoa new header! I like it. And I like Quinn's head tilt too.

I would love to own a sweatshirt just like Qs. I know that's frumpy, but it's a good one. (I love my boys in sweatshirts too.)

I think your circle of friends sounds like the best part of living in the city. And I always feel the same way- so indebted to sisters + mom + friends who are as good as sisters with all my parenting questions (still). I'm not sure that will ever end..

He is so sweet and cute. It is fun to read about you being so in love with this little babe. So many more giggles and smiles coming your way over the next year (s).
